BIG ALMATY LAKE

One of the major tourist attractions is the Big Almaty Lake and one should not miss it at all when visiting this beautiful country. The Big Almaty Lake is located in the gorge of Bolshaya Almatinka River which is 2511 m above sea level and is 28.5 kms south of Almaty. The best part about its location is that it is surrounded by majestic mountain peaks on all sides and infact the Lake lies within the Alatau- Eliy National park. The peaks that surround the beautiful lake are the Sovetov in south east, the Ozyorny in the south and in the south west you have the slopes of Turist all giving the lake a look of a hollow mirror. The effect of the mountains and the lake within is surreal and one feels in another world only.

The 1 km wide and 1.6 kms long lake with a depth of 40 mtrs can be reached by road or by foot, but if you want to reach early, you can take a bus ride till the beginning of the ascend which transports you directly to the scenic area. Once there you can enjoy by relaxing and soaking in the natural views and clicking photographs for lifetime memories.
